Bus safety training in Lewiston

Lewiston Police Officers Danielle Murphy, left and Joe Bradeen, help Martel School kindergarten student Maddyson Libby, out of the back of her school bus Friday morning at the Lewiston school. It is part of the annual bus safety training program that has taken place at all Lewiston elementary schools this past week. Everyone, including students who do not take the bus to school, got a chance to practice evacuating a bus. Because Longley Elementary School does not have regular bus service, a bus will come to the school next week for their students to practice. According to Bradeen, in the past, they would bring one bus to a school during the day for the training. This year they decided to try doing it as the busses arrived to drop the students off in the morning. "It was much faster and more efficient this way, and did not disrupt classes during the day, so I think we'll do it this way in the future."
