Giffords opens for the season
Gwendolyn Davis, 3, samples her free ice cream as her brother, Brayden, 8, looks on at Gifford's Famous Ice Cream stand on Minot Avenue in Auburn Friday night as the line snaked around the building and cars lined up to find a parking space. They came with their brother and parents from Minot. Traditionally, Giffords opens their ice cream stands each year on the first day of spring, serving their customers two scoops of ice cream for free from 6:00-8:00 pm. Giffords is a fifth-generation, family-owned company that sources its fresh milk and cream exclusively from independent family farms, and uses antique Cherry Burrell freezers to slow churn their ice cream.
