It culminates in scenes of merriment and thanksgiving, with families and friends gathering to exchange gifts, enjoy food and festively decorate their homes.
Lewiston firefighters, police, and United Ambulance personel carry the driver of this SUV to an ambulance after using the jaws of life to extricate him from the side of Alfred Plourde Parkway in Lewiston Monday morning. It was unclear at the time what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway on the gradual curve and sheer off the utility pole, foreground, and crash into the woods between the Ramada Inn and Pinette-Lynch funeral home.
Sabattus Primary School Farm Day

The school grounds were transformed into a kid sized fair complete with a large variety of farm animals, hayrides, games, popcorn, cotton candy, ice cream and more. A prisoner is brought down the "runway" into one of the buildings on the sprawling complex at the Maine Correctional Center in Windham.
Some of the estimated 1,500 Central Maine residents walk along the Riverwalk in Auburn Sunday morning toward the start/finish line at the Hilton Garden Inn during the 15th annual Central Maine Heart Walk . Families, friends, and co-workers turned out to help raise funds to support the American Heart Association’s (AHA) life-saving research and education. AHA Communications Director, Brenda Vitali, was confident that they would raise as much as last year, $130,000. The headlights of a car streak up Pine Street in Lewiston Thursday night in this time exposure of Lewiston City Hall all lit up with the recently installed lights. Crews were adjusting the lighting to make sure they were aimed properly for the formal ceremony later this month when they will be "officially" turned on.
Turner Elementary School 4th grader, Aidan Murray, watches dry ice react with liquids in a tube he was given to hold by "Lightning Lucy", from the Mad Science program during Friday morning's assembly in the school's gym. The program was organized by the Turner Public Library through a grant from the Wing Benjamin Trust.

Rosie Ontiveros, of Lewiston, picks flowers from her CSA garden at Fresh Start Farm in Lisbon Sunday afternoon. "They are not as good anymore since the frost came, but I will take them to market tomorrow." In addition to the flowers, Rosie, a regular at many local farm markets, will take the beets, peppers, turnips, carrots and eggplant to the Portland Farmers market Monday.
Costume and fabric sale at CLT
Emma Pratt, 3, of Lewiston, checks out her costume she found at the Great Falls Performaing Arts Center Saturday morning where Community Little Theatre was having a costume and fabric sale to help raise funds for their programs. With over 50,000 costumes, renting some and selling others has become popular with many different groups. They plan to stay open Saturdays from 9-11 until Halloween.

She and other Lots to Garden staff were giving a tour of the garden, harvesting ripe fruits and vegetables, and talking to a group of freshmen from Colby College, background, that were visiting to learn about this and other programs throughout the campus.
Danielle Martin, left, reacts while telling bystanders about how she lost her brakes coming down Chestnut Street in Lewiston where she lives. She ended up hitting the vehicle, left, that was parked in the lot near Action Screen Printing and continued into the wall where Maine Heritage Weavers is located. While talking to police and firefighters, she noticed something leaking from under the car. After looking closely, she realized it was from a fish tank she had in the back seat that was half empty, and Blue, the Betta Fish she was "fish sitting" for her brothers girlfriend, was flopping around on her car seat. After scooping it up and putting it back in the tank, on the ground at right, it began swimming around. The owner of the car at left, Leah Philippon, was able to drive her vehicle from the scene, but the other had to be towed. There was no significant damage to the building.

Rodrigue made this one man balloon he calls Jimmy Hoppa, over the winter, and hung around, tethered at the field, to give spectators a look at his newest "cloud hopper."
