Lewiston firefighters, police, and United Ambulance personel carry the driver of this SUV to an ambulance after using the jaws of life to extricate him from the side of Alfred Plourde Parkway in Lewiston Monday morning. It was unclear at the time what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway on the gradual curve and sheer off the utility pole, foreground, and crash into the woods between the Ramada Inn and Pinette-Lynch funeral home.
Some of the estimated 1,500 Central Maine residents walk along the Riverwalk in Auburn Sunday morning toward the start/finish line at the Hilton Garden Inn during the 15th annual Central Maine Heart Walk . Families, friends, and co-workers turned out to help raise funds to support the American Heart Association’s (AHA) life-saving research and education. AHA Communications Director, Brenda Vitali, was confident that they would raise as much as last year, $130,000.
