After training for an hour across the street from his house in the playground of the former Pettingill School in Lewiston, Max Bolduc drains the remainder of his jug of water on his face to try cooling off in the swealtering heat. Former Lewiston Maineiac Eric Bonawitz was training with Bolduc, who is doing everything he can to be ready for the start of hockey season, with hopes of earning a starting spot on the varsity squad. Bonawitz will be a freshman at Brock University in Ontario, Bolduc a sophomore at Lewiston High School.

Jim Wilkins of Auburn looks at a piece of art that was on display at the Lewiston Public Library in Lewiston Friday evening. The Mirror Mosaic by Jessy Kendall was one of hundreds of pieces of art, including photographs, paintings, sculpture and a variety of other artwork on display at numerous locations in Lewiston and Auburn. In addition to the art, music and food were also offered for those taking part in the cultural experience. There will be two more, August 26 and September 30. Hyde was on first and didn't stop at second on a hit and run when an infield hit was thrown to first for the out. The throw from first sailed over the third baseman's head and Hyde got up and trotted home scoring a run during Saturday morning's first game of a doubleheadder against Windham. Bob Veilleux of Lewiston, splashes his wife Diane after crossing the finish line of the 13th Annual Chief Worumbo Androscoggin River Race in Lisbon Sunday morning. "It was a safety situation with the heat and all" Bob said. According to his wife Diane, the best part was that they finished ahead of their three daughters. "They will never hear the end of it." Nearly 100 compeditors enjoyed the perfect weather conditions that started at the boat launch on Route 136 in Durham, finishing 6 miles later under Route 196 in Durham where the Sabattus River meets the Androscoggin. An unidentified young girl carefully makes her way across the abandoned railroad trestle crossing the Sabattus River where it meets the Androscoggin River in Lisbon Sunday morning as she looks for a better vantage point to watch the finish of the 13th Annual Chief Worumbo Androscoggin River Race. According to race officials, walking across the trestle is not against the law and often a place where people come to fish.

The beautiful but messy birds have become a nuisance at the public beach and were relocated to the Flagstaff Lake area.
After several other wildlife experts directed these Canada geese toward shore with kayaks, Wildlife Biological Technician Bill White pops out of his hiding spot to keep the gaggle headed toward a pen that was set up at the Auburn Outlet Thursday morning where they were captured, banded and set free in the area of Flagstaff Lake.

Auburn Lewiston Municipal Airport manager Rick Cloutier stands on the hill overlooking the airport next to the rotating beacon mounted on a tower that can be seen for miles by a approaching aircraft. The hill will be leveled over the next three years as part of the airport expansion project. Some of the aggregate will be used in the expansion of the runways where Kittyhawk Avenue and Lewiston Junction Road will be moved as the main runway will be lengthened.

One of several workers from Creative Glass Company in Lewiston carries a mirror to be used at The Dance Center's new location on Western Avenue in Auburn. Several small businesses are being forced to vacate the former Great Falls School as it is being torn down. Dance Center LA owner Elizabeth Hansen and her husband bought the former Merrill Hill School at the corner of Court Street and Western Avenue and are busy renovating it. They plan to move the dance center into the building in June, taking a few of their Great Falls neighbors with them. The Mudroom Pottery Studio and fitness trainer Glenn Atkins will make the move with the Hansens. They are also contemplating re-opening a day care center in the basement where one was once located..

Migano, who lives in South Portland now, was living in New York when the towers fell. "With Bin Laden being killed and now this, I may finally have my closure. It has taken a long time, but this is my final resolution." In the foreground is Sue Millman from Portland Oregon, and is retired from the army. She was here with a friend to see the event and when she noticed Mignano looking at the beam from the ground, she said to her, "come on up, we're all Americans." The two strangers bonded for a moment, overcome with emotion." outside the Freeport Public Safety Building where a ceremony was held when the beam arrived. After the ceremony, it was taken away to be fabricated into a monument that will then be dedicated as part of a 3 day event Freeport is planning to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of 9-11-01 in the park at the Safety Building. A veteran of three tours of duty in Vietnam, Carmichael said, "I was one of the lucky ones that came back. It's really hard standing here." He bought a flag in honor of his father, a WWII veteran who was in the Battle of the Bulge. The display of 400 flags, described as a "Field of Honor", is a fundraiser for the Auburn Exchange Club. The civic group hopes to raise money by selling all of the 400 flags at $40 each. Proceeds will fund its charity work.
