The quad at Bates College was busy Wednesday afternoon as students played, rested and studied on an unusually mild afternoon on the Lewiston campus. Tatum Holley, left, was studying for a psychology as her friend Sofia Jorgenson, right was taking a break from reading for her anthropology class.

"There is a kinda cult like culture with people who fish from kayaks these days. It's a bit weird and I'm a little weird so that's probably why I'm fishing for pike. That and they put up a really good fight." he said as he shoved off from the Turner Boat Launch.
