Choreographer and director Stephan Koplowitz is working with students at the Bates Dance Festival on the first stage of a work that is targeted to be complete in 2016, merging live performing and film to evoke some of the history and environment of Lewiston. The first stage, now being filmed, is a cinematic backdrop for the work. Koplowitz, who is based in Los Angeles, hopes the project will unveiled in an off-campus performance, potentially created at Payne-Simard Memorial Park and inside the Bates Mill complex.
