Lewiston Police/Code Enforcement Liason Officer Jeff Baril, center, stands over an unresponsive man in the middle of Shawmut Street in Lewiston Sunday afternoon. According to Baril, he was driving down Pine Street when he witnessed the man chasing a woman with a knife. Two unknown men knocked the knife, in grass at left, out of his hand and pushed him to the ground. Baril restrained him until additional police officers arrived. The woman refused to press charges, but according to LPD Sgt. Rob Ullrich, he would face at least disorderly conduct charges. When United Ambulance arrived, he sat up and admitted to drinking a 5th of 100 proof alcohol and was transported to the hospital for evaluation. To watch a video from the scene, visit sunjournal.com.
