Bill Baker puts together an arrangement of a dozen red roses at Dube's Flower Shop Thursday afternoon as the Lewiston store and other flower shops across the world are filling orders for Valentine's Day, coming up this Sunday. In the foreground is an arrangement of rainbow roses, which the staff at Dube's say are quite popular. While Valentines Day is in the top 5 for flower sales each year, the record for sales on a single day in the US was the day after Elvis Presley died in 1977.
Greg Swearingen cleans the window's at Lions on the corner of Lisbon and Pine Streets in Lewiston Thursday afternoon. "I've been here most of my life so the cold doesn't get to me but the darn streaking it makes on these windows is no fun." The boutique shop opened last year but closed due to the coronavirus but is opening back up on Monday.
