Bethany Cuetara watches her son Zachary, 2, sample some maple syrup during Maine Maple Sunday at Danville Sugarhouse in Auburn Sunday morning. They live about a half mile down the road, but because it was such a beautiful day, Bethany and her husband Greg and other son Benjamin strapped on snowshoes and hiked through the woods with Zachary his dad's back. There was just enough syrup to give out samples to visitors, but like most Maine syrup producers, the weather has not been cooperative and production is down to a fraction of what it should be. They had a long list of people wanting to buy "Maine's liquid gold." Danville Sugarhouse plans to have another open house in a few weeks when they have had a chance to make more.
