Ed Douglas plays the recorder during Wednesday's Oasis of Music weekly program at Trinity Church in Lewiston Wdnesday afternoon. Douglas formed The Calderwood Consort in 1975 with numerous musicians joining in over the years. Sisters Linda Johnston and Carol Griffith joined him Wednesday playing a variety of instruments and singing. Th consort, one of Maine’s longest performing early music groups, will perform a 90 minute concert this Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul in Lewiston, presenting sacred and profane love songs from the twelfth through the seventeenth centuries.
While waiting for a flag and between gigging, Stefen Severy, of Litchfield, kept his daughter Emmalyn from getting bored by twirling her around Sabattus Pond in Wales Saturday morning during the 4th Annual Oak Hill Booster Pike Fishing Derby.
