Lewiston city arborist Steve Murch talks on the phone with the city electrician about coming over to Sandy Street in Lewiston December 1, 2020 where several residents of the cul de sac were blocked in by a large tree in the road that came down during Monday night's storm. Murch said that it looked like CMP had come overnight to restore the power to most of the neighborhood by reconnecting the main line at the top of the poles but with numerous lines still on the ground and a half dozen dangling above, Murch called in the city electrician to verify they were safe to have his crew work around and clear the debris.
A large tree crashed into the side of an apartment in River Valley Village in Lewiston during a severe storm on December 30, 2020. A young child escaped serious injury when debris crashed into the crib they were sleeping in according to a Lewiston police officer on the scene but was being evaluated by an Auburn Rescue unit on scene. The damaged crib can be seen in the top right of the photo.
Mike Small has been growing poinsettias for almost 40 years, learning the trade from his father and grew the business until recently downsizing and selling Roak The Florist on Main Street in Lewiston. He took over one of the Whiting greenhouses and grows on a smaller scale now at 726 Summer Street in Auburn, Small's Plant Care. He looks over his flowers on November 22, 2020 where he has watched this years crop of Christmas Day poinsettias grow since the beginning of July. Most of these are going to the Lewiston High School swim team.
