Wayne Buckingham, Commander of AMVETS Post #33 in Jay plays taps at the end of Thursday morning's Veterans Day recognition service at Chisholm Square in Jay. Traffic was halted on Route 4 for about 10 minutes as veterans from several local chapters and their auxillary units as well as supporters took part in the ceremony.

Veteran Charlie Paul of Norway came to Veterans Memorial Park in Lewiston Wednesday morning to check on the Vietnam War memorial bench and monument he raised money for that will be "unveiled" Thursday morning at 11:00 am. He chose this collage as all the branches of the military are recognized but what hits home for him are the troops walking through rice paddies, bringing back memories of when he was doing just that.
